Message :Not sure when it was written but from an analysis standpoint, that quote is dead on, regardless of time frame for lag. Unless you are building full boost at idle, then it *will* take some period of time to get there from where you are at. RPM is irrelevant. Technology has improved and that spool time may be getting smaller and smaller. But its still there. And until turbos act like superchargers and produce boost at idle, that wont change.

I've read a bit of Corky Bell's book, and it's a good book for a novice, but is garbage for anyone looking for some correct logic.

Also, superchargers do *not* build full boost at idle, contrary to what people say. Think about it- a supercharger is gear driven, and at idle that gear will be driven slowly. Only at maximum RPM's will you have full boost. So you'll have a progressive increase in boost going from idle to redline. A turbo is exhaust gas driven and can reach full boost before max rpm.
